CaseSteward

Case management for law firms

The AI prepares the work.
Your team approves it.

CaseSteward is a case-management platform where AI drafts the next step on every matter, ready to run: the deadline calendared, the letter drafted, the client update written. A person on your team approves each one. Nothing goes out without that approval.

Built first for California workers’ compensation, employment and personal injury firms.

The action queue

More than suggestions. Work that’s ready to approve.

Most legal AI suggests what to do next. CaseSteward’s AI does the preparation. Each matter gets a queue of finished actions, and each one shows its reasoning when you open it.

  1. 1

    Prepared

The AI reads the matter’s fields, documents and workflow step, then prepares the action itself: a calendared deadline, a drafted letter, a client update, an invoice, a staged e-signature.

  2. 2

    Explained

Open any action to see the why: the case facts it relied on, cited to the matter’s own fields and documents; the statute or rule; and the deadline math, step by step.

  3. 3

    Approved

An authorized person approves, edits or rejects it. Only then does it run. Every decision is written to the audit log.

One platform

Everything a firm runs on

Matters & workflow

Matter types with configurable workflow steps, tasks, notes and documents. Each step can trigger the actions that should follow it.

Intake & sales

A separate pipeline from lead to consult to retainer to signed. Phone and SMS integrations, e-sign for retainers, and one click to open the matter.

Client portal

Mobile-first, in English and Spanish. A plain-language case timeline, messages, document upload, e-sign, invoices, and an assistant that answers only from the client’s own case.

Time & billing

Time tracking, invoices and operating funds in and out. (CaseSteward doesn’t do trust accounting.)

Permissions

Layered by practice area and matter type, matter, assignment, party and feature. Enforced on every screen and every AI action.

Audit & admin

An append-only audit log of who did what, when, and what changed. An admin portal for users, roles, matter types, steps and rates.

Security & ownership

Your data, your AI key, your cloud

CaseSteward isn’t a black box. Each firm connects its own AI provider key (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic or Google), so the AI runs under the firm’s own account. The platform runs in the firm’s or vendor’s own cloud, and it’s ready for Azure.

How security works
  • Your own AI key. The AI runs under your account with your provider. You see the usage.
  • Permissions apply to the AI too. The assistant can only see what the person asking can see.
  • A person approves every action. Nothing is sent, filed or charged without approval.
  • Append-only audit. Every approval, edit and view is recorded and can’t be changed.
